Seva Mandal Education Society has been a pioneer in providing qualitative educational facilities to girl students for the last six decades.  We started on a humble note in 1957 with just seven students and today our campus which is located in the central suburb of Matunga houses eight institutions with over 6000 female students.  We offer every educational opportunity ranging from Junior college to undergraduate programs postgraduate programs and certificate courses in faculties of Arts, Commerce, Home Science, Computer applications, Management, Mass Media,  Law and   Nursing. Our vision statement is the “Empowerment of Women through Quality in Education” and it is our objective to ensure those female students who would have otherwise been denied the opportunity for education are given the chance to pursue their dreams.

Significant Milestones

Shri Matunga Gujarati Seva Mandal places its first step forward with just seven students who are tutored for exams conducted by the SNDT Women’s University.
A building is constructed to house an Arts college at Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road. The Society received a donation of Rs. 4 lakhs from the Meghji Pethraj Shah Charitable Trust for naming the College as Smt Maniben M.P Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce.
President of India, Shri V.V. Giri inaugurated the first college building with a total area of approx. 40,000 sq ft.
Through a further donation of Rs. 2 lakhs from the Meghji Pethraj Shah Charitable Trust, a Junior college in Arts and Commerce is added. This is named as Shri M.P Shah Junior College of Arts and Commerce for Women.
The Society constructs a second building with a total Area of 24,000 sq ft. with a magnanimous donation of Rs. 30 lakhs from the Manilal Vadilal Nanavati Charitable Trust. The Home Science faculties commence and are named as Dr. Bhanuben Mahendra Nanavati College of Home Science, Smt Hiraben Manilal Nanavati Junior College and Smt. Shardaben Champaklal Nanavati Institute (Polytechnic).
⮞UGC Vocational degree course in Food Science and Quality Control is introduced in the Home Science College.

⮞UGC Vocational degree programs in Office Management, Computer Applications & Advertising are introduced in Smt. MMP Shah College.
Construction of the new Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Vidya Bhavan commences through a magnanimous donation of Rs. 1 crore from Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Charity Trust and Shri Gambhirchand Oomedchand Shah Charity Trust
A bachelor program in Computer Applications (BCA) is introduced under Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Dept. of Computer Applications.
A Bachelor’s program in Business Management (BMS) is introduced under Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Dept. of Management Studies.
Smt. M.M.P Shah College introduced M.A in Counseling Psychology and M.Com. Dr. B.M.N. College introduces UGC Career Oriented Programs
Dr. B.M.N. College introduced P.G. Diploma in Sports Science Fitness and Nutrition.
⮞Dr. B.M.N. College introduced P.G. Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

⮞A Bachelor degree program in Mass Media (BMM) is introduced under Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Department of Mass Media.
⮞S.C.N.Institute of Polytechnic starts a course in Auxiliary Nurse & Midwives, affiliated to Nursing Council Of Maharashtra & Nursing Council Of India.

⮞Seva Mandal Education Society celebrates 50 years of dedicated service in the field of women’ education.
Dr. BMN College introduced MSc. Program in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics A Bachelor program in BBA LLB is introduced under Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Law School.
Dr. BMN College introduced BSc Program in Nutrition & Dietetics Smt. M.M.P Shah College introduced M.A in Hindi SMES constructs Smt. Vasantben Vadilal Shah Vidya Bhavan Building with the donation of Rs. 51 Lakhs from Shri Rajubhai Shah which houses the Nursing and Law colleges.
Dr. BMN College of Home Science awarded A Grade with CGPA 3.64/4 by NAAC MCA (Masters in Compute Applications) Program affiliated to IGNOU is offered by Smt. Kamlaben Gambhirchand Shah Dept. of Computer Applications.
⮞Campus is named as Smt. Parameshwari Devi Gordhandas Garodia Educational Complex through a magnanimous donation of Rs. 2.5 Crores by Shri. Gordhandas Garodia.

⮞S.M.E.S’s College of Nursing introduces BSc. program in Nursing, supported financially & clinically by Smt. S.R. Mehta & Sir K.P. Cardiac Institute SCNIP introduces Diploma in Applied Art program.
⮞Dr. BMN College of Home Science introduces Gandhian Studies Centre through a grant of Rs. 10.5 lakh from UGC. ⮞Smt. M.M.P. Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce awarded ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.61/ 4 by NAAC.
⮞Smt. M.M.P. Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce introduces B.Com in Accountancy, Finance and Insurance (AFI).

Dr. BMN College of Home Science and Smt. M.M.P. Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce awarded UGC Status of Colleges with Potential for Excellence.
⮞SMES received a generous grant of Rs 53 lakhs from SAS Institute [India] Pvt. Ltd towards converting existing classrooms to SMART technology enabled classrooms under their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative.

⮞Dr. BMN College of Home Science received “The  Best College Award 2016-17” adjudged by S.N.D.T. Women’s University.
⮞Dr. BMN College of Home Science incepted Language Lab.

⮞Dr. BMN College of Home Science awarded ‘A+’  with CGPA 3.69/4 by NAAC Re-accredited 3rd Cycle.

⮞Smt. M.M.P.Shah Women’s College introduced M.Com with specilization in Advanced Managemenrt Accounting and Auditing, B.A. Economics in the English Medium Smt. M.M.P.Shah Women’s College received “Best College Award 2017-18” adjudged by S.N.D.T. Women’s University.
⮞Dr. BMN College of Home Science and Smt. M.M.P. Shah Women’s College received Autonomous status.

⮞Dr. BMN College was selected for UGC Grant from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) under the scheme  ” Enhancing Quality &  Excellence in Select Autonomous Colleges”  Nursing College is named as Smt. Sunanda Pravin Gambhirchand College of Nursing after a magnanimous donation of Rs. 1.5 Crore by Shri.Pravin Shah under Smt. K.G. Shah Charity Trust.
