  • NIT Jamshedpur's campus consists of 350 acres (1.4 km2) of land located 2 km off the Tata-Seraikella Road. It is 3 km fromAdityapur railway station and 11 km from main Tatanagar railway station. The academic and administrative buildings are located between the Up hostels complex and the Down hostels complex. The Kharkai River meanders 2 kilometers away from the Down Hostels. The institute is at the center of the industrial belt of Adityapur. The main market place, Bistupur, is around 5 km from the campus. The campus is picturesque with greenery and thick foliage, and mountains in the backdrop. There is a high school (DAV Public School, NIT Campus) located in the campus.


  • Airways

    Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, Jharkhand Ranchi is connected with Jamshedpur through NH-33 via Chandil and Bundu. Road distance is about 140 KM between the two cities. You may add about 15 KM more to this distance as the Airport is about 5 KM from Ranchi city and NIT Jamshedpur is about 10 KM from the Jamshedpur bus-stand. Numerous bus services are available between Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Ranchi is also connected with Jamshedpur by rail-route distance is 177 KM by train but the bus route is convenient. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Domestic & International Airport, Kolkata It is an international airport located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is 260km away from Jamshedpur. The best way of travelling between Jamshedpur and Kolkata is by train. The train journey takes 4 - 5 hours. By road it takes about 6 hours.


    Railways

    The railway station of Jamshedpur is known as Tatanagar Junction. Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) is an important railway junction & a model station on the South Eastern Railway and is the most important railway junction of the state as it is connected directly to all the major cities of India, viz., Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Raipur, Patna, Nagpur, Kanpur, Ranchi, Pune, Jammu, Vishakapatnam, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar etc.Tatanagar Jn is 135 KM from Kharagpur and 250 KM from Howrah (Kolkata) by train route. It is well connected to Kharagpur and Howrah Junctions through over a dozen of super-fast/express/local trains. Jamshedpur is well connected to other parts of India through national and state highways.


    The major highways are:

    National Highway 33 (NH 33) touches the city and joins the NH32, which connects Kolkata with Delhi.National Highway 32 (NH 32) connects Jamshedpur to Govindpur via Dhanbad.

  • Regular bus services are available from Jamshedpur to Ranchi (131 km), Patna, Gaya, Kolkata (300 km) via Baharagora, Hazaribagh, Puri, Bhubaneshwar, Asansol, Bokaro, Dhanbad etc. However, Roadways travel on Kolkata-Kharagpur-Jamshedpur route is not recommended as train route is much better (faster, cheaper, safe and comfortable).

    The Institute’s Administrative Building is 9.5 KM from Jamshedpur main bus stand at Mango, 8.5 KM from Tatanagar railway station and only 2 KM from Adityapur railway station which is a small station. Distance between Adityapur railway station and Tatanagar Jn is 4 KM. While coming from Howrah side, Tatanagar Jn comes before Adityapur station, and while coming from Mumbai/ Bilaspur/ Durg/ Rourkela/ Patna/ Asansol side, Adityapur station comes before Tatanagar Jn. All local trains and few express trains stop at Adityapur station.

    Every engineer has a flair of imagination. If you pride yourself in being an innovative designer, Technica ‘19 brings to you: MAGNUM OPUS. It is a model making (working or non–working) event.

    4. Metalmorph

    This event is aimed to acknowledge the participants in–depth knowledge in the field of metallography and gives them a platform to display their prowess in preparing an observable sample.

    5. Industrial Problem Solving

    Engineering is the manifestation of acquired knowledge. To appreciate the employment of metallurgical concepts and ingenious innovations one has to first solve the floor problems.

    6. Metalab

    MATLAB is a tool, one of its kinds, in the hands of a metallurgist. It is used to simulate and solve complex problems in almost all fields of metallurgy with unerring precision.

    7. DR. DARA P. ANTIA MEMORIAL METAL QUIZ

    Dr. Dara P. Antia was a doyen of the fraternity of metallurgy and the founder secretary of IIM. An INAE “Lifetime Contribution Awardee”, he dedicated his entire life promoting metallurgy among the youth with his research activities. As a mark of respect we shall conduct a metal quiz in his honour.

    8. QUIZZICA

    CLASH OF THE QUIZZARDS. For those who have a quiz bug kicking inside them, Technica ‘19 offers QUIZZICA, a general quizzing event covering all domains of science, brain teasers, general awareness and entertainment. Presence of mind and the skill of observation can prove to be the winning combination.

    9. Industrial Visit

    Providing a gateway to the manufacturing world, the event aims to introduce the industry to the participants providing them first-hand experience about metal production. (*Note: Shoes are compulsory for safety issues. Without shoes, visit to industries shall not be permitted)
